Who we are
Verging on an alter ego and a hallucination, June lives in the heart and mind of a 30-something named L.C. Spring, a writer living in Upstate New York. Before unleashing June into the world, Spring gained a Ph.D. in the philosophical arts. Eternally questioning, she draws on her love of deep, sometimes unanswerable questions to paint haunting emotional landscapes in which her introspective characters never take anything for granted—not even themselves. Her creative inspiration for unsettling towns where vampires feel at home has roots in too many terrifying experiences to count and about 5 years and $5000 worth of self-inflicted torture (~10 years and $150000 if you count grad school). In her spare time, she tends to her garden and actively aspires to evolve into a nonhuman state.
But seriously…
Ire of the Vamp is about June. You know her, right?—that girl at the heart of every vampire romance, dancing with death. June’s different, though. She’s determined not to fall prey to her vampire lover, fleeing to a gritty and troubled post-industrial town in an effort to recreate herself.
Her prior suitor has left her disoriented and doubting herself. But somehow, it doesn’t matter in Pastelton. Upon her arrival in summer, she feels a sense of wonder and promise drawing her in, comforting her.
Her elation is heightened when she visits the local tattoo shop and becomes enamored with one of the artists, Paun. Desperate to reinvent herself anew, she commissions him to bring a new vision of herself to life.
But what is real and what isn’t? Even June isn’t always sure. As she works to reconnect with herself and settle more deeply into Pastelton, she uncovers some dark secrets there—secrets that raise new doubts for June.
She’s not sure if she can trust herself and the mysterious allure of this town that took her in when she had nowhere else to go. What if she’s repeating a dark and disturbing pattern? What if she’s the one losing her mind?
